Between December 4th and 6th, MeDeMAP partners met in Vienna, Austria, for a workshop to design the Citizens’ Parliaments to be conducted under Work Package 6 (WP6).
The workshop brought together participants from Austria, Ireland, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic to collaboratively address the question: To what extent and under what conditions do media support democratic functions for users and their demands for democracy?
Guided by the principles of participatory action research, the sessions focused on shaping inclusive and effective formats for the Citizens’ Parliaments. These events aim to explore and strengthen the relationship between media and democracy. The Citizens’ Parliaments will be conducted in Austria, Ireland, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic during 2025 and are being developed as a platform for meaningful dialogue and participation.
The event included interactive sessions on Process Design, Decision-making, and innovative facilitation methods like the Pro Action Café. Key outcomes included draft sketches for the Citizens’ Parliaments and reflections on fostering inclusive and co-creative discussions.
This collaborative workshop represents a fundamental step in advancing MeDeMAP’s mission to support democratic functions through media and empower citizens’ voices across Europe.
