As part of Work Package 2 of the MeDeMAP project, a film essay dissemination initiative has been developed, drawing upon the theoretical framework and insights presented in the recent volume Democracy and Media in Europe: A Discursive-Material Approach, authored by Nico Carpentier and Jeffrey Wimmer.
This creative endeavour has resulted in the production of a 26-minute film essay, currently titled Agon, which reflects on the meaning of democracy and its ongoing contests. The official trailer of the film is now available, alongside the launch of a dedicated project website:

Set in the city of Prague, Agon interweaves the urban aesthetics of the Czech capital with intercultural dialogues, particularly featuring the Indonesian community and other cultural groups residing in the city. The film merges elements of political and cultural theory with fiction and performative expression, including dance, in order to open up new spaces for democratic inquiry and reflection.
A screening will be organised during the forthcoming MeDeMAP consortium meeting in Vienna.
This project exemplifies MeDeMAP’s commitment to innovative and interdisciplinary approaches in mapping the evolving role of media in the future of democracy.
