The session is coordinated by Giulia Ferri, Andrea Miconi, and Nello Barile (IULM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All presentations featured in the panel stem from research conducted within the project. Giulia Ferri, along with colleagues Nello Barile and Elisabetta Risi, are presenting methodological insights titled &#8220;Theory and Methodology: Qualitative methods in Democracy Research \u2013 Opportunities and Cross-Country Challenges&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alessandro Nan\u00ec and Kristiina Raud from Tallinn University are presenting a paper that&nbsp;examines how citizens perceive the relationship between media and democracy through qualitative research methods developed within the MeDeMAP framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maren Beaufort from the Austrian Academy of Sciences is presenting comparative findings from the project&#8217;s multi-country study, titled &#8220;Models of Democracy and Media&#8217;s Role \u2013 Lessons from a Cross Country Study&#8221;, offering insights into different democratic models and media functions across European contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The panel concludes with MeDeMAP research from the Czech Republic, where Karolina \u0160imkov\u00e1 from Charles University&#8217;s Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism, collaborating with Jeffrey Wimmer from the University of Augsburg, presents &#8220;The future was in the past: How Czech citizens perceive current struggles and threats to democracy and media&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This panel represents a significant contribution to understanding democratic resilience and media trust across Europe, providing evidence-based insights from the MeDeMAP project&#8217;s extensive qualitative research program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo: \u00a9Manuel Jos\u00e9 Dam\u00e1sio The MeDeMAP project is presenting findings from its research at IAMCR 2025, showcasing qualitative studies on media, democracy, and public perceptions conducted across ten European countries.
